The program, hosted by the Center for Sustainability, targets university staff as well as employees from commercial, industrial, and medical institutions in the wider community.
Dr. Hassan Al-Numani, President of Sohag University, explained that calculating carbon footprints, preparing related reports, and obtaining carbon certificates are currently voluntary practices but will soon become mandatory. Therefore, this course provides participants with a university-accredited certificate that qualifies them for the labor market and prepares institutions to handle all aspects related to carbon footprint assessment and reporting.
Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, stated that the training program will cover the concept of the carbon footprint, its environmental impact, and sources of carbon emissions across various industrial and commercial sectors. Participants will also acquire practical skills for using diverse tools and techniques to measure carbon emissions.
Dr. Hamdi Hassanein, Director of the Center, added that the program includes training on preparing carbon footprint reports in line with international standards and relevant regulations, as well as analyzing and interpreting carbon footprint data to support data-driven decision-making. He noted that the training lasts six hours per day.
Dr. Nada Abdel-Mohsen, the program coordinator, and Eng. Nihal El-Maghraby, IT expert, explained that to obtain the certificate, participants must attend at least 75% of the total training hours and actively participate in the training sessions. The course date will be announced once registration reaches full capacity.
