Greetings
In the frame of preparing for the Environmentally Friendly University Competition, as well as applying for the international ranking UI GreenMetric,
I ask you to kindly guide us to take appropriate action towards:
1- Preventing the use of car horns inside the university campus, as well as preventing the entry of motorcycles, in order to reduce noise and preserve the environment.
2- Prohibiting smoking inside university buildings.
3- Studying the development of a mechanism to reduce the use of paper in administrative correspondence within the university by using an electronic correspondence program
4- A study to develop a mechanism to reduce the use of cars within the university (especially the new university) by using shared bicycles or electric golf cars (12-15 passengers) to serve students and all university employees.
5- Propose an entity (unit, center, or consultant.) related to sustainability, as it is one of the requirements to apply for the international classification UIGreenMetric.
Worthy mentioning is that Sustainability Unit was established by University President decision No. 1923 dated 6/8/2020
By the time activities of sustainability were getting increased at the university so the unit turned to be a center of sustainability development by the University Council decision No. 188 dated 12/28/2022, and it became responsible for all sustainability activities at the university and in the surrounding community.
