Dr. Hassan Al-Numani, President of Sohag University, signed a cooperation protocol between the Faculty of Science at Sohag University and the Sohag Drinking Water and Wastewater Company, represented by Eng. Mohamed Salah El-Din, Chairman of the Board and Managing Director. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Hazem El-Mashnab, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Dr. Alaa Yousry, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Eng. Ashraf Ali, Technical and Chemical Support Advisor of the company; and Eng. Mansour Saber Ali, Vice Chairman for Laboratories and Quality Affairs.

Dr. Al-Numani explained that, under the signed protocol, both parties agreed on a comprehensive framework for effective collaboration in the field of drinking water and wastewater management across the governorate. The cooperation will focus on scientific research, training, development programs, and public awareness initiatives. He emphasized that this serious partnership will lead to joint laboratory research, analysis of drinking water samples to ensure compliance with quality standards, and the launch of awareness programs to educate citizens about the importance of rational water consumption.

He also highlighted plans to organize specialized conferences, seminars, workshops, and training courses, as well as to exchange expertise and research studies. The collaboration will extend to projects related to water purification systems, wastewater treatment, and groundwater research. Dr. Al-Numani praised the company’s efforts in public awareness, problem-solving, and improving the quality of services provided to citizens in recent years.

Eng. Mohamed Salah expressed his appreciation for the partnership with Sohag University, describing it as a center of expertise that institutions across the governorate can rely on for scientific support in addressing technical challenges. He thanked Dr. Al-Numani for his commitment to achieving the goals of the agreement efficiently and effectively. He added that the partnership will provide research opportunities for graduates in areas such as natural filtration, soil layer analysis, hydrological studies of groundwater wells, technical consulting, quality control, and the development of innovative technologies for wastewater reuse and the enhancement of water purification systems.
