A delegation from Sohag University participated in the Third International Conference on Climate and Environment 2025, held in celebration of World Environment Day. The opening session of the conference took place at the League of Arab States Headquarters and was organized by Nile University in cooperation with the Engineers for a Sustainable Egypt Foundation.

The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, on behalf of the Prime Minister, and Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, Adviser to the President for Religious Affairs and representative of the Ministry of Awqaf. The session was also attended by Dr. Nazir Ayyad, Secretary-General of Al-Azhar’s Council of Senior Scholars; Mr. Amr Moussa, former Minister of Foreign Affairs; Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, Climate Pioneer and Conference President (via video conference); Dr. Mahmoud Fathallah, Head of the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for Environmental Affairs at the League of Arab States; and Dr. Wael Akl, President of Nile University.

Dr. Hassan Al-Numani, President of Sohag University, stated that the university participated on the second day of the conference by showcasing student projects in the field of sustainable development. The university’s participation served as a key contribution to both the conference and the accompanying exhibition, aligning with national priorities to address climate change and promote sustainable development.

The university delegation presented innovative projects from the Faculties of Agriculture, Engineering, and Commerce, under the supervision of Dr. Abdel-Aleem Saad Suleiman, Head of the Plant Protection Department, and Dr. Mohamed Youssef Al-Aref, Head of the Animal Production Department, accompanied by Dr. Hatem Sabry Maki and Dr. Israa Abdel-Azim from the Faculty of Agriculture.

At the conclusion of the event, Sohag University was honored with the conference shield, and special thanks were extended to Dr. Al-Numani for his active support of the conference and exhibition, which addressed one of the most critical global issues of our time — climate change and environmental sustainability.
