Sohag University held a preparatory meeting to review what had been accomplished in preparing the files required to participate in the international ranking of sustainable universities, in the presence of Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Hamdy Hassanein, Director of the Center of Sustainable Development, General Coordinator of the University’s File, and the members of the team.
Al-Noamany stressed that the university provides full support for sustainability activities in all fields in order to keep pace with the President of the Republic’s initiative (Bedaya) and also the “Get Green” initiative, which was launched by Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, and in line with the National Strategy of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Egypt’s Vision 2030 for sustainable development.
Dr. Khaled Omran added that the university works to ensure that its campus will remain clean and maintains sustainability standards such as sustainable buildings, reducing the use of environmentally polluting means of transportation, rationalizing energy and water consumption, preserving the green cover, reducing carbon emissions, reducing noise, safe disposal of waste, in addition to digital transformation in all transactions to reduce the use of paper and expand new energy projects.
Dr. Hamdy Hassanein praised the efforts made by the standards coordinators and committee members,
He said that these efforts resulted in a great accomplishment in a short period of time in all files, as Dr. Muhammad Youssef finished preparing the requirements for the infrastructure standard, and Dr. Naglaa Youssef completed the remaining requirements to complete the waste management standard,
Also Dr. Yasser Shehata provided the necessary documents for all the standards, while Thuraya Abu Hajji, an employee in the media center provided all the news, pictures and videos, and Taha Al-Hilali drew the outlines for updating the website and the rest of the team work are completing the remaining required files.
