As part of its ongoing efforts to raise awareness and promote a culture of electricity conservation and responsible resource management across campus, Sohag University has launched the “Save It… Light It” Pledge, targeting all members of the university community, including faculty members, administrative staff, and students.

The initiative reflects the university’s commitment to adopting responsible practices that reduce waste, optimize energy consumption, and support the state’s efforts to preserve natural resources for future generations.

The pledge outlines a set of core commitments aimed at strengthening social responsibility and transforming the university into a leading institutional model for energy efficiency, responsible consumption, and environmental sustainability.

The “Save It… Light It” Pledge

I pledge to be an active contributor to the responsible use of resources and to support, through my daily actions, the development of a sustainable university and a more environmentally conscious nation.

I commit to:

  1. Conserving electricity by switching off lights and electrical equipment whenever they are not in use.
  2. Making use of natural daylight whenever possible during daytime hours.
  3. Turning off lights when leaving classrooms and offices, and shutting down computers, monitors, and printers after completing work.
  4. Cooperating in addressing and correcting any wasteful practices or negative behaviors observed within the university.
  5. Adopting positive daily habits that contribute to reducing energy and resource waste.
  6. Operating air-conditioning units only when necessary and maintaining appropriate temperature settings.
  7. Serving as a role model in preserving resources and promoting responsible energy consumption.
  8. Participating in university activities and initiatives related to the “Save It… Light It”
